July 2, 1863:  The Civil War (1861-1865)
     In one of the most famous scenes from the Civil War and the Battle of Gettysburg, Father Corby gives general absolution to the Union soldiers.

February 19, 1945:  Iwo Jima (1945)
     A Notre Dame hero would become an American hero on the shores of Iwo Jima, fighting for the boys.

December 14, 1930:  Great Depression (1929-1930s)
     In what would be the last game Knute Rockne coached a Notre Dame team, his All-Stars played the New York Giants for charity.

November 11, 1944:  World War II: Battle of the Bulge (1944-1945)
     The largest deficit a Notre Dame team would incur had a larger impact helping the Allied war effort.

October 16, 2004:  Daniel O'Connell (1775-1847)
     Notre Dame buys some land in a foreign country that once belonged to a rather important person.

September 11, 2011:  9/11 Ten Years Later (2011)
     Ten years later, wounds have healed but scars still remain. Campus once again comes together vowing to never forget.

September 11, 2001:  9/11 (2001)
     Campus came together, stood as one on South Quad and brought everyone through the day.
