June 9, 1957 - First College World Series winBy OlsonEditor's Note: This is Part 2 of a four part series over the coming weekend.
The next day, playing in the losers bracket (double elimination) ND trounced Northern Colorado 23-2. The 21 run margin is still a College World Series record (although it has since been tied). Leading 14-0 after 4 inning of that game, ND coach Jake Kline pulled pitcher Symeon even though Chuck was pitching a no hitter. Jake wanted to save Symeon for the next game against Texas. With the loss, Northern Colorado was eliminated from the tournament.
