January 7, 2012 - The first (and only) win at Louisville
It took twelve tries, but the Notre Dame men's basketball team finally won a game on the road at Louisville. Before today, Notre Dame had lost 11 times at Louisville. But in double overtime, ND emerged victorious 67-65 and downed #11 Louisville.
This game would be the fourth in a row between ND and Louisville to go to overtime (from 2009 to 2013, six of eight games would go into overtime). The two teams would split those six overtime games, each winning three.
In the 2011-12 season, this would be ND's first win away from the JACC - they had lost their prior six games on the road. Jack Cooley finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Scott Martin also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Eric Atkins played at 50 minutes, scoring the final 7 points for ND and secured the victory.
